Assistant Superintendent

Western Stevedoring, a major terminal operator and stevedore contractor headquartered in North Vancouver requires an Assistant Superintendent to play a key role within the operations team servicing the Lynnterm East and West Gate facilities and vessel stevedoring operations. In this dynamic environment, the Assistant Superintendent will support the cargo handling operations in the efficient receiving, warehousing and delivery of steel, forest products and a variety of general cargo.

Candidates possessing post secondary education in a related field of study with a minimum of five years experience in marine logistics would be preferred. The successful candidate will bring to the position a thorough understanding of collective agreements, labour standards legislation and safety standards. Excellent problem solving and sound judgement will afford the ability to handle multiple priorities in a highly demanding work environment. Effective communication, interpersonal and leadership skills are essential in dealing with internal and external audiences. The ability to work a flexible schedule is essential in meeting operational demands. Advanced computer skills in Windows based software is also required.
