QUALITY HANDLING SYSTEMS FOR ALL CARGO

Western has consistently delivered superior service to all of its customers by ensuring that our quality handling systems are efficient and effective.  By continually improving its cargo handling systems, Western is committed to Quality Assurance for the handling of all commodities.  As part of this commitment, Western is registered with QMI under ISO-9001:2000 for handling wood pulp.

Western’s Quality Assurance System achieves the above objectives and commitment through:

QUALITY TRAINED PERSONNEL

Office staff, foremen, drivers and checkers are trained to deliver the highest standard of quality care.

WOOD PULP RAILCAR DISCHARGE

Purpose built lift trucks designed for quality wood pulp handling on discharge.

WOOD PULP CLAMPS

Pulp clamps have been specifically designed for quality handling of wood pulp, thus avoiding damage.

ALUMINUM STICKERS

Aluminum bars (stickers) are used to stabilize the stored units and ensure that there is no wood splinter contamination to wood pulp.

CORNER PROTECTORS

Corner protectors are placed throughout the warehouses to help preserve your product prior to shipment

WOOD PULP TRAILERS – STAINLESS STEEL DECKS

Cargo is loaded onto pulp trailers equipped with raised decks to protect the pulp units from moisture when delivering to vessels. Loading is aided with the use of adjustable walkways.

WOOD PULP TRAILER STORAGE SHELTER

In 2002, as part of Western Stevedoring’s continued focus on Quality Assurance, wood pulp trailer storage shelters were introduced. The shelters protect the wood pulp bales during inclement weather while awaiting positioning under the ship’s gantry.

Modern sweepers clean the concrete warehouse storage bins, aprons and aisle floors daily.
