FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES

Western Stevedoring is committed to protecting the environment in which it operates and ensuring the health and safety of its employees, customers and the public impacted by its operations and services.

The Senior Management of Western Stevedoring is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment, and promoting safe work practices and behaviours within the Company.

Every person employed by Western Stevedoring has a right to a job that can be performed safely.

Every person employed by Western Stevedoring has an obligation to work safely and to promote safe working conditions, safe work practices and to adopt a positive attitude towards iincident prevention and waterfront safety.

INCIDENT PREVENTION RESPONSIBILITIES

Every Manager, Superintendent and Foreman within the Company shall maintain the necessary standards that are required to meet the Fundamental Principles as they apply to machinery, equipment, facilities and work methods. This group must endorse incident prevention programs, establish incident prevention objectives and ensure all employees have a clear understanding of what is expected from them in the prevention of incidents.

Every Manager, Superintendent and Foreman shall ensure that the employees, responsible to them, are instructed to do their job safely.

Every Manager, Superintendent and Foreman shall enforce all regulations and proper work procedures for all employees. Where employees fail to comply with safe working habits, immediate corrective action will be initiated.

Compliance to regulations and work standards or procedures will be managed through audits and evaluations.

Everyone is expected to work positively and cooperatively toward the elimination of incidents.
